Two poems short-listed in Tryangle Poetry Competition, and one poem Highly Commended in Perform Poetry’s “Seasons”-themed Poetry Competition. February 2013... Poem A Song of Springtime published inThe Dawntreader magazine (third consecutive issue).

Sunday 2 June... My specially-commissioned poem for The Frame Blog, which explores Dante Gabriel Rossetti's painting The Blessed Damozel (and its stunning accompanying frame) is published online and may be read here: www.theframeblog.wordpress.com 

 

June 2013... My poem "The Golden Stairs", inspired by the painting by Edward Burne-Jones, is Highly Commended in the formal category of Poetry on the Lake poetry competition, making this the second consecutive year of having been placed, and the third time overall.

 

Sunday 16 June, 7pm … Co-host of/performing in The Sunday Edition, a regular jazz-poetry event at Enfield’s Dugdale Theatre. 

 

July

Sunday 14 July, 6.30pm... One of several members of Allen Ashley's advanced writers' group, "Clockhouse London Writers", reading at the launch event of multi-arts exhibition 'In Art We Trust' at the Bull Theatre, Barnet. 

 

August

The latest Review of the Pre-Raphaelite Society is published, containing two of my poems written especially for the Society: "John Ruskin, Body and Soul"; and "If Paint Were Love" (addressing William Morris's only attempt to paint Jane Burden/Morris). 

 

August 2013... My poem His Last Duchess is a runner-up in Perform Poetry's 'Revisited' competition, judged by the Poetry Kit's Jim Bennett, for a poem inspired by another poem of more than 80 years old. 

 

Sunday 8 September 2013... The Pre-Raphaelite Society celebrates 'PRB Day' on Twitter. Two of my poems written for the Society (one celebrating their 25th anniversary) may be read here:

September 2013... My poem Isabella: A Bitter Harvest,inspired by Keats' poem and Holman-Hunt's painting (and shaped like a pot!) is published in the Journal of the British Fantasy Society. 

 

September 2013... My short story "The Taming of the Tiger" is short-listed in the Prose category of Save As Writers' Shakespeare-themed writing competition. I will be reading an extract at the Canterbury Festival's prize-giving ceremony on 26th October.

26th October 2013... Lovely news! Having attended a very well-organised and extremely enjoyable evening at the Dominican Priory in Canterbury, listening to other (excellent) short-listees and reading myself, my story “The Taming of the Tiger” was announced as runner-up in the Prose category of the Canterbury/Save As Writers’ competition!
