Workshops

In 2020 I undertook a SEDA course in Introduction to Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, which I passed with flying colours. Since then, I have been leading creative writing/poetry workshops, mostly online via Zoom, along with an in-person workshop at the prestigious Poetry Pharmacy in Shropshire. I also convene and chair a monthly private poetry critique group.

I run my own themed workshops, and have guest-tutored for established poetry groups as well. My workshops are a safe creative space, and I am proud to have received positive feedback for the sessions I have led.

Please do get in touch via my Contact page if you would like to discuss booking me to deliver a creative writing/poetry workshop or to lead a critiquing session. In the meantime, here are some genuine responses from participants at my workshops:

Wow! That was amazing. Thank you so much for all the work you must have put into it beforehand and for your careful, wise and compassionate stewardship. – CD

Thank you so much for your workshop yesterday afternoon, it was a total joy to take part in. I enjoyed each of the writing exercises and loved hearing everyone’s work. I really appreciate the amount of work you’d put into preparing for the session. Honestly, it’s given me such a boost, and I’m excited to go back to the drafts from the workshop and continue working on them. – CW

Thank you so much for today. I think you did a marvellous job of encouraging us all and stimulating us all with ways of creating. You must have spent hours preparing for each of us. Your care shone through. It was a really good afternoon. I felt invigorated by it. Thank you. – CM

Sarah, thank you so much for your inspirational workshop, You delivered such an absorbing and thoughtful two hours. I have been working on my poem all evening, sneaking off whenever I can to enjoy the process. It has been ages since I have been so enthused by poetry. – SW

It was a very complete experience doing the workshop with you. I don’t know how you managed to pack so much into the 2 hours, though actually it was probably because you were so well prepared and organised. The exercises were terrific, nothing to fault or wish for. Thanks again Sarah, it was a great day. – LH

That was such a brilliant and generous workshop, thank you so much – it feels as if you have been teaching for years in terms of your planning and warmth and classroom management – totally brilliant. And such wonderful exercises, I've never been to a workshop where the tutor has tailor made an exercise for a student. I loved it from start to finish – you were awesome! – SB
